Hello! Thank you! I gave Jaunty a try on the hp tc4400 and you're right - digitizer worked "out of the box". That was a few months back, and I remember having to get some help from Ubuntu forums to get something working (I think it was the buttons - right click or something?). I took notes on the steps - must find time this weekend to update the tc4400 page. Thanks for the inspiration! I notice you're based in Manila. I was there for a week each time in May, Jun and Jul, to work on the HP project at Centex Manila. You might have read about it in the paper or seen something about it on TV. We used Windows machines there - not linux - as they had new PCs that came with the OS preloaded.

Hi. The only internet banking "programs" I use are the bank's online banking sites, and then I capture my financial state in local spreadsheets. If I was looking for something like Microsoft Money, I might look at Mint.com. There's some reviews of the app that suggest MS dropped Money because they couldn't compete against Mint's free offering.

A fresh install is definitely preferred - especially since this was the RC, not the final release. Although there are a number of vista drivers that Win7 can use, I would not want to run into driver incompatibilities spoiling my experience of the new OS. I actually prefer having unknown devices reported by Device Manager (and these are devices that I don't need - for eg TPM Module, Smart Card Reader), than having questionable vista drivers installed and possibly causing strange behaviour.
I've lived through enough HDD crashes to learn how to structure my apps and data for easy recovery, so I'm pretty comfortable with completely fresh OS installs every year of so. There are a number of apps from XP/Vista that won't run in Win7. Antivirus programs in particular. But most of what I need (and lots of this is free software) work well - 7Zip, Truecrypt, Handbrake, Comic Book Reader ......

There certainly are cons. Off the top of my head, I'm thinking about whether dangerous wastes are generated in the creation of the batteries, and the eventual disposal. The question in my mind is whether the cons of battery tech for cars generate greater risks and evils than the current crop of petrol/diesel internal combustion engines do.

The article does give a good insight of the pros of having an electric car. But what about the cons?

Hi, just one (maybe two) questions...

Did you perform a fresh install of Windows 7 RC, or did you select the upgrade from vista option?

If it was the latter, did the already installed on vista applications continue working on Windows 7 RC, or does the upgrade only preserve the data files and all applications have to be reinstalled anyway?

Cheers!
